I just finished Factions for the first 3 times four days ago.
I saved all my characters, left them stranded at Unwaking Waters, and then just plowed through the end game on all three in one day. It was nice kind of. Instead of going through the whole game on each character, I stopped for each one when I'd reach a certain point, and then work on the next. Granted, its made Factions take a long time for me to beat, but I find that I didn't get bored so easily as I did with Prophecies.
Now time to repeat that process to get my 3 new Canthan characters done with Factions, and then maybe even Prophecies. I think I've got enough time before Nightfall comes.
I think, whether the expansion is coming too soon or not is your choice. As in, I could have been done with Factions a while ago, but I kind of staggered my playing (and bought Oblivion) to slow me down. I didn't need another Prophecies that I would get bored with so fast. Theres still a lot I haven't done in Factions. I made every character go through the Kurzick side, so that when I'm done and bored with nothing to do, there the Luxon side will wait for me.
If you play casually, yeah, Nightfall may be too soon, if you're hardcore played through Factions in two days, then Nightfall probably couldn't be any sooner.

By the time Nightfall is released, they will have spent a year working on it, I don't think it's too soon...

Finished Factions 4x since release...
It only takes at max a few weeks to go through main storyline and BOTH sides (Luxon/Kurzick)

I've been thru factions 5 times now, nearly a 6th, its a grind but i use PvE chars for pvp so its gotta be done for the skills, wish they wouldnt put all the elites in the final maps, playing factions itself is more of a grind than any farming ive ever done, nightfall cant come soon enough IMO.

I only play PvE and still haven't finished Factions*. I think you mean "people who only play the MISSIONS in PvE, preferrably while playing with guild teams", because if you start doing the several hundred quests with PUGs, you'll be busy for a while.
* although to be honest that's to a large part because I lose interest at Raisu Palace and start a new char or go farming instead... I don't know why, but Raisu Palace just bores the pants off me.
That said, Factions was released in April (right?) meaning Nightfall is still two months away. Maybe I've managed to muster enough bloody-mindedness to get through Raisu Palace by then.

It probably wont be too soon when it comes out, in about 2-3 months from now. Then it will probably be just in time.
Also, I've beaten Factions on 3 characters and I just got my warrior to Raisu Palace, and my ele is sitting around Gyala Hatchery. So yea, I can do this campaign pretty fast if I try.

It's like a new book in the Guild Wars Saga, my only concern is when extra character slot will be avalable to but, or will every new chapter give you two extra slots to build characters from.

Yeah, it comes way too soon. My friends and I are still only about half way through Cantha with our first characters.

I'm more of a pve person than pvp, but I definitely have to agree that Nightfall is coming too soon. I believe expansions should come every 1 year rather than the 6 months which passing by quickly. Pve players are rushing by Factions wayy too quickly and thats why a lot of players are ready for the new chapter. At least try out/find out and play new builds in pvp, especially in AB. Plus, Factions had a pretty sad/short pve...

I think it needs to be pointed out real quick that $50/6 months is not nearly equivalent to a monthly fee. From that $50 that we get charged, there are many fingers in the pie taking cuts... the manufacturers, distributors, merchants, etc. A monthly fee goes straight into the coffers of the parent company with minimal overhead.
I only being this up on seeing some people saying it's the same thing... this may seem true to us as the purchaser of the game, but it's dramatically different from ANets perspective... they make much less releasing and not chargnign a monthly than they would if hypothetically everyone with a game was paying a monthly fee.
However... there is a counter-balance that ANet must be aware of... with no monthly, they have more people continuing to play than if there was. That keeps the player base up, which increases the market for future releases, which increases copies sold, which helps offset the loss of money from no monthly...
Whatever.
Anyhow, I don't know if I'm ready for Nightfall yet, but try and stop me from buying it! I have only one character that made it all the way through Factions (too many distractions... curse you Aspenwood and ABs!), but can't resist a new world...

But I heard a lot of reactions of PvP players saying that Nightfall comes too soon. Every1 knew nightfall would come 6 months after factions but still, everyone was a bit suprised about the announcement.
Some pvp minded ppl are thinking, again 2 new professions and again many new skills and we havn't even fully discovered the factions skills, professions and builds that can be played with assasin and ritualist.
After prophecies we had a full year to discover the possibilities of the existing proffesions and after that year there was a pretty balanced metagame and now everyone is still working on using and adapting the ass and rit to numerous builds being used in gvgs for example.
I think the pve minded ppl wll be happy with a new chapter every 6 months because there will be new content, weaps, armos,....
But maybe not every1 will like a new chapter every half year.
If they will release a new chapter every 6 months will there be enough time to fully discover every new profession and skills and will the new professions have enough impact and the metagame?
Maybe new profesions will be forgotten soon if there are too much profs.
Will the game become too complicated to balance everything?
But...money rules the world so 2 chapters every year will most likely assure a good amount of profit. I don't blame Anet for doing this. I respect them for working so hard with a pretty small devs team. They habe been working on Nightfall since November last year and if they are bringing out a chapter every 6 months they are working on chapter 4 too atm.
But maybe they can give us a year after Nightfall to give us a chance to fully discover Factions and Nightfall. This way Anet can spend even more time in working for the community and fanbase. There are allrdy doing a lot of community stuff for pve and pvp players (events, pvp weekends,gwfwc,...)
But sometimes I still feel that the communtiy is keeping itself alive too often because I think there sometims is a lack of direct feedback from Anet.
But anyway, I will enjoy Nightfall no mather what. Just my 2 cents

First off i can't wait, though i do love factions, its a good concept idead and i find it very intresting. Its going to be more intresting to see what happens in Nightfall, i can't wait for it. I've beaten factions with 4 characters already, hell i even beaten it with an assassin, then again i was a good assassin, i really like them. But anywho its not too early cause it most likey will not be out till around 2-5 months. Also don't forget that their aleady working on 4 and 5.
PS: For the guy that can still injoy Diablo 2, i have no idea how you can, when you have played the game since beta, like i did, it had gotten old, Hell all my accounts do is sit their, i've given away alot of items too. I've gotten to level 99 2 times and it just boreing now. Guildwars is where my heart is now. Diablo 2 is just dust in the winds now.
